Yes great idea! I would like to display anything on the LED matrix. It's a very frustrating to be limited to text and icon.

Using the whole display would be the perfect feature.

It'd be great if there was a way to post essentially a bitmap (i.e. - a 2D array of colors) to the device. It'd be especially great to be able to post data directly to the device over REST (i.e. - POST to http://<device ip>/show_on_display/) so more rich display applications can be developed for digital signage purposes and the like.
