IFTTT Button press

This is probably here somewhere but I have not been able to find it.

Do I have to be in the IFTTT button app for button presses to be sent?

If so that is extremely limiting, I was wanting to use IFTTT to integrate with my HA system. Hit the button while the alarm is going off get one notification, push it in the weather app get a different one etc...

Is there a local API for receiving the button presses?

@ Mike,

Currently for IFTTT button to work you need to press Action Button on your LaMetric when you are in IFTTT Button App.

Recipes for IFTTT Button app are created on the principle if the Action button is pressed on LaMetric Time, then some action is made.

Having to click over to the IFTTT app is worthless, is there any plan to make this useful?
